Bangkok--28 Sep--Maxima Consultants Small changes from volunteering times and talents make a big difference to our communities, Ford Motor Company, a global automotive industry leader based in Michigan, manufactures and distributes automobiles in 200 markets across six continents, and its employees around the world recently put their efforts for others during the annual ‘Ford Global Month of Caring’, in September. ‘Despite the difficult challenges we face today, the business case for community service is stronger than ever. Volunteering helps us strengthen our corporate brand, build high performance teams, and attract employees, customers and investors. It is the right thing to do, for ourselves, our communities and our business. Caring for society and the earth is a guiding principle at Ford Motor Company, from the ground up and from the top down’ said by Mr.Alan Mulally, Ford Motor Company’s President and Chief Executive Officer. This year a wide range of projects were reached out to local communities. For example in the United States, Ford employees in Michigan conducted various activities including assisted and escorted senior citizens for fun and adventure at Detroit Zoo, provided reading skills to pre-school children, harvested vegetables and built a trellis and planter, and collected 300 plastic bottles as part of the company-wide recycling drive. In Canada, employees at Ford packed donated food that filled 30 of the five-passenger and delivered to local food banks. In Europe, Ford volunteers spent the day at mentally impaired children to improve its facilities. In the meantime, volunteer spent two days built a new bridge and landscaping the surrounding footpath in Gaydon. In South Africa, company acted as a conduit for employee choice to support worthy causes through payroll giving. For the ‘Ford Global Month of Caring’ in Thailand this year, Mr.Tom Brewer, President of Ford Thailand led Ford volunteers and lower north dealers from Utraladit, Sukhothai, Phichit, Phrae and Kamphaengpetch pledged to build 10 homes for floods disaster victims at Baan Dannakham. Working with Habitat for Humanity International, Ford volunteers also renovated school library and brightened the surrounding with fresh paint and planting garden while educational materials and sports equipments were also provided to Namridradbamroong School in Utraladit. In addition, with boxes full of donated food and necessity, Ford employees visited elderly home at Banglamung in Chonburi. Another groups conducted special charities to support the Blind Association Foundation, Foundation for Children Better Life and blood donatation to Thai Red Cross. ‘Ford considers that it is our responsibility and priority to play an active role in the communities where we do business. And for the past 11 years, Ford has contributed to communities throughout Thailand that have been faced with unforeseen challenges and needed a helping hand.
