Bangkok--1 Oct--SET The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) Foundation bestowed the Prateep Ungsongtham Hata award on Ms. Utis Buddhasud Somjai, known as Khrunoi, for her 23-year outstanding contribution to urban development and her dedication to helping the poor and underprivileged, particularly children and youth, throughout Thailand. The award is for the urban development category of SET’s Honoring Great Contributors program, which supports community and social activities that enhance sustainable development, SET’s Capital Market Education Division Chairman Mr. Punsak Vejanurug said. “The award gives moral support to people who have dedicated themselves to helping society and encourages others to contribute,” Mr. Punsak added. Ms. Utis Buddhasud Somjai has initiated many projects, including the Contribution to Rural Thai Children Foundation, Child Help Foundation, Helping Rural Thai Children Foundation, Baan Luk Rak Foundation and the Child Development Center in the slums. The Honoring Great Contributors program has six categories: education, urban development, rural development, music promotion, sports promotion and library development. In August, 2007, the SET Foundation gave the library development award to Prof. Khunying Manmas Chavalit.
