Bangkok Bank offers Bt 2 billion foreign debt instrument fund

Bangkok--3 Oct--BBL Bangkok Bank is offering a new Baht 2 billion fund which will invest in foreign debt instruments issued in overseas markets. The fund, Bualuang Thanasarn Plus 1, is under the management of BBL Asset Management and is available at all Bangkok Bank branches nationwide from today until October 9, 2007. Bangkok Bank Executive Vice President Ruchanee Nopmuang said Bualuang Thanasarn Plus 1, or BPLUS1, is a foreign investment fund which will invest in foreign debt instruments issued in overseas markets. The fund has a lifespan of at least five months but not more than six months, and investment units will be redeemed automatically. BPLUS 1 has a fund size of Baht 2 billion, and, subject to demand, it may exercise the Greenshoe Option and offer additional investment units of up to Baht 300 million. Investment units are priced at Baht 10 apiece, and the minimum first purchase is Baht 10,000. BPLUS 1 will invest at least 80% of its net asset value (NAV) in debt instruments issued in foreign markets by financial institutions with credit ratings from AA- or higher. The remainder may be invested in other securities or assets in Thailand or overseas, or may be used to generate investment returns using other means as approved by the Securities and Exchange Commission. Mrs. Ruchanee said that in addition to BPLUS 1, the bank is also offering Bualuang Thanarat 22/07, which will invest at least 80% of its NAV in government debt instruments such as treasury bills and government bonds. The lifespan of Bualuang Thanarat 22/07 is up to one year, the fund size is Baht 5 billion, and the Greenshoe Option is up to Baht 750 million.
