Bangkok--18 Oct--Siam Commercial Bank Siam Commercial Bank PCL posted impressive 3Q07 operating results (consolidated basis), showing preliminary net profit of 5,322 million baht, up 44% yoy from 3,688 million baht. The impressive results are thanks to the continued growth in interest and fee income and successful management in cutting NPLs from 8% to 7.5%. With the solid 3Q07 operating results the Bank’s accumulated net profit over the past nine months of this year reached 13,332 million baht (a 10% increase yoy), up from the previous year’s 12,182 million baht. Dr. Vichit Suraphongchai, Chairman of the Executive Committee, noted that, "the continuity of good results underlines the success of the Change Program that SCB has been intensively implementing over the past six years. The strengths that have been built through changes in many Bank dimensions enables SCB to be adequately prepared for both today and the future, when competition will become increasingly fierce.” Khun Kannikar Chalitaporn, SCB President, shared Dr. Vichit’s satisfaction, observing that the Bank’s, “remarkable performance was driven by a combination of three key factors: a 32.4% growth in net interest and dividend income due in part to loan growth of 6.7%, growth of non- interest income by 28%, and a reduction in NPLs to 7.5%. The non- interest income currently represents 36% of gross income, with growth in line with the Bank’s development strategy and driven by the bank's successful mutual fund management as the market leader with a 21% market share.
