Bangkok--22 Oct--Bangkok Bank Bangkok Bank will offer short-term bills of exchange (BE) as a new low-risk investment option to customers who hold deposits of Baht 1.0 million or more. The bills of exchange will be offered in terms of three, six, and 12 months and will be available at Bangkok Bank branches from Monday, October 22, 2007. Bangkok Bank Executive Vice President Ruchanee Nopmuang said the bank will issue short-term bills of exchange as a new low-risk investment option for deposit customers who are seeking a higher rate of return than a fixed deposit. The three-month and six-month bills of exchange will offer an interest rate of 2.60 percent per annum, while the 12-month term will offer an interest rate of 2.75 percent per annum. The minimum purchase is Baht 1.0 million. “The benefits for investors are that the bills of exchange carry low risk but investors will receive a fixed return in a chosen timeframe. The interest rates offered on the bills of exchange are higher than the rates on fixed deposit accounts with the same or similar maturity,” Mrs. Ruchanee said. The bills of exchange are available to individuals, juristic entities, and financial institutions resident in Thailand. Investors will receive a document certifying their ownership of the bills of exchange. The bills of exchange, which are not transferable, will be registered under the name of the holder and can be redeemed prematurely under the conditions prescribed by the bank. The bills of exchange can also be pledged as collateral for loans. Interested customers can obtain more information or subscribe for the bills of exchange at any Bangkok Bank branch except for Microbranches, or call Bualuang Phone on 1333 from today onwards.
