Bangkok--25 Oct--Aziam Burson-Marsteller Asian Honda Motor Co., Ltd., Honda’s Bangkok-based Asia & Oceania Regional Headquarters, today announced the official commencement of operations of Asian Parts Manufacturing Co., Ltd., Honda’s new subsidiary manufacturing automobile body spare parts for after-sales service. The plant is located in the Rojana Industrial Park, Ayutthaya province, and has a daily production capacity of 2,100 units. Honda expects with its production capacity for automobile body spare parts, the new plant will meet market demands within Thailand and around the world. “Asian Parts Manufacturing Co., Ltd. is the first Honda factory to manufacture automobile body spare parts for all of Honda’s global models, thanks to the infrastructure of the automotive industry in Thailand, which is competitive at the global level in terms of QCD — Quality, Cost and Delivery,” said Mr. Tatsuhiro Oyama, the President and CEO of Asian Honda Motor Co., Ltd. “The company will produce body spare parts for the Thai market, as well as export them to countries in ASEAN, Oceania, Japan, Europe and North America. Next year, the company will start producing body spare parts for the Honda “Jazz” (called “Fit” in some countries), which will lead to full-swing production. We give our priority to operational safety as well as product quality,” said Mr. Toshio Sugiyama, the President of Asian Parts Manufacturing Co., Ltd. Ms. Sudjit Inthaiwong, Deputy Secretary General of the Board of Investment (BOI), who presided over the company’s grand opening ceremony, said, “It is the BOI’s pleasure to witness the opening of this plant and to see Honda’s trust in Thailand’s future potential. The establishment of Asian Parts Manufacturing Co., Ltd., will certainly increase employment, enhance the automobile production skills of Thai workers and help move Thailand towards becoming the automobile hub of Asia.” Asian Parts Manufacturing Co., Ltd. was approved by the BOI for its investment privilege in August 2006 and completed construction of the factory in April 2007. With its full production capacity, the company will be able to manufacture two categories of small-size spare parts, including bulk head and bumper beam; and 17 categories of big-size spare parts, including hoods, door panels, outer panels, fenders and roofs among others. The daily production capacity for small-size spare parts and big-size spare parts are 700 units and 1,400 units respectively. The plant is also equipped with world-class advanced production technologies and quality control. The major technologies include the 4-Step Pressing Process that can draw, trim, pierce and bend all with one machine; and an Electric Dip for parts painting.
