The film provides fascinating information about mountaineering as well as breathtaking footage of the Alpine scenery and the life and culture of the people of the Swiss Alps. The Alps is produced and distributed by MacGillivray Freeman Films, the maker of the globally acclaimed documentary shorts, Dolphins and The Living Sea. Executive producers are Greg MacGillivray and Academy Award nominee Mark Krenzien, and the film is directed by Stephen Judson who also wrote the script with Stephen Venables. The film was shot with the panoramic IMAX cameras in the most challenging locations, with state-of-the-art editing and a great musical score to capture the spirit of the Alps, as well as the imagination of audiences at IMAX theatres worldwide. “As being one of the Swiss enterprises in Thailand, Holcim is proud to be a part of an activity that will add to the good relations between the two countries,” said Chantana. “In addition to its advanced cinematography and the stunning backdrop of the natural scenery, I believe this film has a quality that will inspire anyone who sees it.” The Alps’s opened in the USA in March and its Asian premiere will be here in Thailand on November 6, 2007 at Krungsri IMAX Theatre, Paragon Cineplex. Special screenings will be held throughout November and December, and it will open officially on January 4, 2008.About ‘The Alps’ The Alps is a cinematic adventure in the style and tradition of MacGillivray Freeman Film’s blockbuster documentary Everest.
