Bangkok--14 Nov--Seagate Technology Seagate Technology (Thailand) Limited, in cooperation with the National Electronics and Computer Technology Center is holding the first “Expanding Your Horizons Conference (EYH)” in Thailand. The conference aims at developing young female students’ capabilities in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Originated in the United States, Expanding Your Horizons (EYH) is an international non-profit organization committed to promoting the continuing development in science, technology, engineering and mathematics among female students. It encourages female students to take appropriate science and mathematics courses in high school and consider science and math-based career options. Seagate sponsors this program on a worldwide basis. Through EYH, various science and math workshops are held in all countries where Seagate manufacturing facilities are located. “Seagate is a strong proponent of science and technology education development,” said Miss Sirirat Euaypadung, executive director and Seagate Teparuk plant manager. “We are actively involved in various youth and social development programs because we strongly believe that these innovative projects today will help to prepare them for high-growth careers of tomorrow.” Two hundred female students studying for Mathayom 3 in government-sponsored schools in Pathumtani, Samutprakarn and Nakorn Ratchasima provinces will participate in Thailand’s first EYH Conference. During this one-day workshop, students will conduct innovative and exciting laboratory experiments run by Seagate and NECTEC volunteers. At the end of workshop, there will be a follow-up and evaluation session on how the students have benefited from this conference, as well as a career-counseling session. “We’re pleased to cooperate with Seagate in conducting this crucial project,” said Dr. Pansak Siriruchatapong, NECTEC director. “Since Thailand needs a large pool of highly-qualified engineers, researchers and science, engineering, technology and math-based developers, more young female students pursuing their studies and careers in science and technology will help ensure our country remains a competitive player in the global economic arena.”
