Bangkok--6 Dec--Thai Airways International Thai Airways International Public Company Limited announced that the company’s debentures, despite the volatile bond market situation, received substantial interest amongst institutional and retail investors at over 1.5 times, at a coupon rate per annum of 4.51% for 3 year tenor and 5.04% for 5 year tenor. Apinan Sumanaseni, THAI’s President, said that the company is pleased with the successful debenture offering and thanks investors for their interest in THAI’s debentures, which has received substantial levels of interest from institutional and retail investors. The company has received interest from both institutional and retail investors of over 1.5 times despite the volatile bond market situation at a coupon rate of 4.51% per annum for 3 year tenor and 5.04% per annum for 5 year tenor. The company has issued 2 tranches of debentures: the 3 year tenor at Baht 3,000 million and 5 year tenor at Baht 4,500 million, at a total of Baht 7,500 million. These debentures have been rated AA- from TRIS and were sold by the Bank of Ayudhya Public Company Limited, TMB Bank Public Company Limited, BankThai Public Company Limited, Standard Chartered Bank (Thai) Public Company Limited, TISCO Securities Company Limited, Thanachart Securities Public Company Limited, and BT Securities Company Limited, during the subscription period of 15-21 November 2007. THAI’s debentures received substantial acceptance as the debentures were offered to various categories of investors, including institutional investors, cooperatives, and retail investors, at a coupon rate per annum of 4.51% and 5.04% for 3 year tenor and 5 year tenor, which is considered a suitable coupon rate for the current market. The AA- credit rating signifies the strength of the company’s business operations in the area of aviation, with the ability to yield high profitability and support from the government in financial and operational areas.
