Bangkok--11 Dec--Total Quality PR Etihad Airways’ award-winning loyalty programme, Etihad Guest, is offering its members the chance to use their accrued miles to bid for tickets to an exciting array of ‘must-see’ events, as part of an innovative new online auction facility. The web auction, developed exclusively for the Abu Dhabi-based airline, allows members of its growing loyalty programme to bid against each other to acquire tickets to sell-out pop concerts, exotic holidays and top international sporting fixtures. Any member of Etihad Guest can participate in the special auctions by simply visiting the Etihad Guest Reward Shop and making their bid, using the miles they have in their account. Etihad Guest is the only airline loyalty programme to offer an online auction which allows members to make online bids using any combination of miles and cash. Peter Baumgartner, Etihad Airways’ executive vice president marketing and product, said: “With our Etihad Guest programme we have always tried to be a little different from our rivals and create new ways for our members to interact with us. From the feedback we’ve received on the online auctions, we know our members love this innovative and fun opportunity to redeem their miles.” Recent Etihad ticket auctions have included Justin Timberlake’s pop concert at Emirates Palace and members currently have the chance to bid for seats at the Spice Girls’ sell-out reunion tour. Rugby fans also have a chance to bid for tickets to watch Etihad-sponsored Harlequins play Saracens later this month in London.
