Bangkok--15 Jan--SET The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) and Chulalongkorn University’s Sasin Graduate Institute of Business Administration (Sasin) have launched a joint project, Market Microstructure Research for the Thai Capital Market, to assist future policy development. SET signed a memorandum of understanding with Sasin today (January 15). “This important, collaborative research on the Thai capital market’s infrastructure and trading mechanisms will provide Sasin’s research team with invaluable data. Study results will be used for capital market improvement and policy-making,” SET President Ms. Patareeya Benjapolchai said. “SET has long appreciated the importance of research in policy formulation and regulation. Sasin’s capacity and SET’s high-quality information will deliver excellent research which will assist in the further development of the Thai capital market,” Sasin Director Professor Toemsakdi Krishnamra said. Stock exchanges in the U.S.A., England, Germany, France, Japan and Singapore regularly use market microstructure research to analyze the effects of regulatory change. The Market Microstructure Research for the Thai Capital Market project is a collaboration where academic research institutions contribute a working area, equipment, information technology, and expertise, while SET provides access to comprehensive data. The Exchange works with different universities on microstructure, and collaborated with Mahidol University before.
