Bangkok--29 Jan--Francom Asia The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) recently announced that American Express International, Inc. (American Express) will for the first time join “2008 Cathay Pacific International Chinese New Year Parade” as the parade route sponsor. In addition, American Express will promote the annual Mega Event among its members. The HKTB was thankful to American Express for their generous support to the event. Mr Anthony Lau, Executive Director of HKTB, said the Board has always tried to invite different organisations to support its initiatives and activities. “We are very pleased to have American Express’ support as the parade route sponsor, and that promotions from both sides will no doubt create a greater synergy. I believe that such collaboration will allow the HKTB to enhance its cost-effectiveness while maximising the publicity for the event,” said Mr Lau. Mr Y C Koh, General Manager, Greater China of American Express International, Inc. said, “American Express is much honoured to be the parade route sponsor of the International Chinese New Year Night Parade this year, and to offer discounts to American Express Card members for purchasing the parade tickets. We are pleased to be able to celebrate this Mega Event with the local community and visitors from overseas.” The HKTB and American Express will jointly promote the event by offering special discounts on the tickets. American Express Card members can enjoy a HK$50 discount upon purchase of parade tickets using their card. Tickets for the event will be available from today at HKTB’s Visitor Information and Services Centres in Star Ferry Pier, Tsim Sha Tsui and MTR Causeway Bay station, Hong Kong Island. The HKTB will present on Chinese New Year’s Day (7 February) the “2008 Cathay Pacific International Chinese New Year Parade” in Tsim Sha Tsui to usher in the Year of the Rat. The parade marks the 13th staging under the HKTB. Heralding the theme of “Riding High — Hong Kong Spectacular!”, the parade will follow a new route, with specially designed colourful floats, both local and international performing groups, and interactive elements that are sure to bring spectators an entertaining and memorable evening.
