Bangkok--30 Jan--Lowe Mercedes-Benz has claimed the top spot in Thailand’s luxury car segment for the 7th consecutive year. Total sales in the luxury car segment for Thailand were down on the previous year and Mr. Wolfgang Huppenbauer, President and CEO of Mercedes-Benz (Thailand) said the 2007 figures for Mercedes-Benz were an outstanding achievement given the drop in luxury car sales.“With overall luxury car sales down, the sales figures achieved by Mecedes-Benz are an indication of consumer trust in the product and the brand,” he said. “To achieve the increases we did, both in terms of unit sales and market share, was an exceptional effort in a difficult year. We are delighted to hold the leadership position for the seventh consecutive year and are confident of maintaining this position for the coming year. With the launch in February of two the new C-Class models, the C 200 KOMPRESSOR ELEGANCE and the C 200 KOMPRESSOR AVANTGARDE we are well positioned to record strong early figures for 2008.”In the figures for 2007, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class lead for the brand with 1,772 units sold, followed by the C-Class with sales of 957 units. The Mercedes-Benz flagship model, the S-Class recorded a 73 percent market share with sales of 548 units.
