ข่าวหุ้น-การเงิน Thursday March 6, 2008 16:01 —PRESS RELEASE LOCAL

Bangkok--6 Mar--EXIM Thailand EXIM Thailand signals foreign investors’ continued confidence in a Thai state-owned financial institution and the Thai economy after its swift sellout of 150-million-USD Floating Rate Notes, which has Daiwa Securities SMBC Singapore Limited as arranger and lead manager. This helps enhance EXIM Thailand’s capacity to furnish Thai investors overseas with USD-denominated financial facilities. Dr. Apichai Boontherawara, President of Export-Import Bank of Thailand (EXIM Thailand), said that the Bank’s offering of 5-year Floating Rate Notes (FRNs) worth 150 million US dollars, with Daiwa Securities SMBC Singapore Limited acting as arranger and lead manager, received a highly favorable response from foreign investors. The issue was fully placed in no time, reiterating investors’ confidence in EXIM Thailand and the Thai economy amidst uncertainties in the global financial market as well as prevailing political and economic changes in Thailand. According to EXIM Thailand President, this FRNs issue is entirely placed in US dollars, without baht conversion. Therefore, it will not put further pressure on the baht appreciation. The proceeds will be used for refinancing of maturing USD debts this year and for the Bank’s lending to support Thai investors’ overseas projects that require USD-denominated financing. Dr. Apichai said that EXIM Thailand plans to engage in additional fundraising in Thai baht currency. Converting baht-denominated funds into US dollar for use in supporting Thai investors’ overseas projects will help increase the demand of US dollars, easing pressure on the local currency, while mounting the competitiveness of Thai investors in the global market.
