Bangkok--18 Mar--SET Thailand Securities Institute (TSI), a subsidiary of The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET), as part of its mission to develop the quality of capital market personnel, has today (Mar. 17) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Office of the Agricultural Futures Trading Commission (AFTC) to train and certify staff involved in futures trading. This MOU is a further step towards TSI becoming the center for training and recruitment of quality capital market personnel, TSI Executive Director Jiraporn Koosuwan said at today’s ceremony. TSI trains marketing representatives, analysts, fund managers and others who play a key role in nurturing trust and confidence among investors. On system reliability, there is the TSI Digital Testing Center which employs a modern and standardized system. The transfer of AFTC’s current training and licensing responsibilities to the Institute makes TSI a complete personnel development center and is a more efficient and cost-effective way to manage human resource development,” said Ms. Jiraporn. “AFTC realizes the importance of training and licensing of individuals who are engaged in the agricultural futures trade and considers that this collaboration will benefit the futures trading business overall. It augurs well for the future because now all trained and licensed staff will work with comparable knowledge, skills and codes of ethics. TSI training will produce more effective financial and agricultural derivatives operators,” AFTC Deputy Secretary-General Soodjai Sunasuan said. This collaboration with SET is crucial in developing more quality professionals in the agricultural futures trade and in meeting the impending expansion of the financial market. With TSI responsible for personnel development, AFTC is free to focus on its key mission, which is to govern, manage, develop and strengthen the agricultural futures exchange, Mr. Soodjai concluded.
