Bangkok--27 Mar--Chevrolet Sales See the unveiling of Chevy’s newest alternative fuel vehicle at the 29th Bangkok International Motor Show - First in Thailand: Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) pickup truck, Chevrolet Colorado CNG - Mark the beginning of the next century in style with a limited Centennial White Edition Captiva - Visit the new, dynamic-looking Chevrolet Pavilion Chevrolet Sales (Thailand) Ltd. is preparing to mark the 100-year anniversary of General Motors with a memorable exhibition at the 29th Bangkok International Motor Show being held this year from 28 March to 6 April. “This is a remarkable year for us at GM and Chevrolet as we celebrate the company’s 100-year anniversary this coming September,” announced Steve Carlisle, President of GM Southeast Asia Operations Limited and Chevrolet Sales Thailand. “Throughout the history of our organization has been a leading pioneer in the automotive industry and we continue to push the boundaries when it comes to meeting the demands of the next hundred years. The International Bangkok Motor Show will provide a glimpse of what Thai motorists can expect to see from Chevrolet in the months and years to come.” Chevrolet will be introducing the Colorado CNG, the first pickup truck in Thailand that runs on compressed natural gas, underscoring GM’s global commitment to alternative fuels and the government’s stated objective of encouraging the development and application of all forms of alternative energy to reduce the consumption of petroleum fuels and to lower emissions. Furthermore, as part of the company’s centennial celebrations, Chevrolet will be launching a special Centennial White Edition of the Chevrolet Captiva SUV. Only 200 of these vehicles will be produced and they will be available for booking at the motor show.COLORADO CNG The Chevrolet Colorado CNG was developed in response to increasing demands within the Thai market for alternative fuel choices in light of sky-high gasoline prices. The 2.5 liter Colorado CNG operates on a dual-fuel injection system which runs on a mixture of 65% CNG and 35% diesel. This optimizes fuel efficiency and economy since CNG currently costs only 8.50 baht per kilogram, one third the cost of diesel. Moreover, all Chevrolet diesel vehicles can be safely run on B2 and B5 bio-diesels at the flick of a switch without any harmful effects. An added benefit is that CNG is one of the cleanest burning fuels available today. With a much higher octane rating than gasoline, it generates no black carbon emissions and very little soot, making it a very clean fuel. Currently, CNG is available at 160 gas stations nationwide but should one not be available when needed, an orange light on the dashboard will light up and the vehicle will automatically switch over to pure diesel without effecting the smooth running of the engine. The Colorado CNG’s 70 liter (9.1 kilogram) pressurized CNG tank -- the same size as in the Optra CNG -- is positioned conveniently in the rear bed of the truck. The Colorado CNG is strong, durable and offers superb performance for all kinds of uses. Its improved cost efficiency will reduce transportation costs and help to lower Thailand’s dependence on imported crude oil, giving a welcome boost to the country’s economy. The 2.5 liter S-Cab in LS, LS1 or LT trim provide a wide choice of options to meet the needs of every driver and all come with a three year or 100,000 kilometer warranty and free 24-Hour Roadside Assistance also for three years.CAPTIVA CENTENNIAL WHITE EDITION The 200 special units of the Chevrolet Captiva Centennial White Edition will be delivered finished in a coat of Metallic Pearl and fitted with a matched side step bar to facilitate easier vehicle entry. It is available exclusively on the LT version equipped with either a 2.4 liter gasoline engine (Bt 1.48 million) or a 2.0 liter diesel engine (Bt 1.58 million). Chevrolet will also be exhibiting 18 other vehicles in addition to the two featured models, including the Chevrolet AVEO, Optra, Optra CNG, Optra Estate CNG and the original Colorado. “Both the Colorado CNG and the special edition Captiva will prove to be attention-grabbers at this year’s motor show,” said Mr. Carlisle. “They are the perfect vehicles to complement our already vibrant product line.” Regular motor show visitors will notice that the color of the Chevrolet Pavilion will seem noticeably brighter, from the previous understated black to GM’s new corporate blue tones selected specifically for the centennial. The Chevrolet Pavilion is designed not only to reflect the continual development and innovation for which GM has become famous over the past 100 years, but also to symbolize the direction GM is intending to take over the next century. All visitors to the up-coming 29th Bangkok International Motor Show may take advantage of GM’s Triple Zero promotion* -- zero percent down, zero percent interest and a zero baht first-class, one year warranty.
