BMW to make Asian debut of BMW X6 to stimulate CBU market and showcase range of diesel-engine cars at 29th International Motor Show

Bangkok--28 Mar--BMW BMW will create excitement in the Thai auto market once again by making the Asian debut of the BMW X6 at the 29th Bangkok International Motor Show during March 28 — April 6, 2008. In addition, this year BMW will also highlight its diesel-engine cars, which have been designed and developed under its ‘EfficientDynamics’ strategy to ensure ultimate performance and fuel consumption saving. Mr. Michael Kordys, President of BMW Group Thailand, revealed, “BMW will participate in this year’s Motor Show under the theme of ‘Heritage Meets Performance’ to showcase our continued leadership of over 100 years in the world’s automobile development and innovative new technology to provide dynamic performance that is unique to BMW. Therefore, in 2008, we will be introducing our BMW X6, the world’s first Sport Activity Coupe, which will be available in Thailand very soon. Additionally, we will focus on marketing our diesel-engine technology to drive our sales growth”.The launch of BMW X6: the world’s first Sport Activity Coupe The BMW X6 has been derived from the perfect combination of elegant sport coupe and high performance that provides a sport-car driving experience. The well-positioned driver’s seat offers makes one feel in more control. To ensure pure driving pleasure, the BMW X6 is equipped with the latest electronically controlled xDrive system, which is available only in this model, and also a Dynamic Performance Control. The highlight at the Motor Show will be the BMW X6 xDrive 50i, which is equipped with a V8-cylinder diesel engine, and it is the first time that twin turbos are placed in the middle of both sides of the cylinders. BMW plans to launch BMW X6 xDrive35i to the Thai market in the very near future. According to the global ‘EfficientDynamics’ strategy, which focuses on providing the dynamic performance that is synonymous with the brand, while reducing fuel consumption and emissions, BMW will make the public launch of the new diesel-engine BMW 320d and X3 2.0d. The 320d possesses ultimate performance with acceleration rate of only 8 seconds from 0 — 100km/hour, economic fuel consumption at 16.6 km/liter and reduced exhaust emission. Both the BMW 320d and X3 2.0d can use B2 and B5 alternative energy, and, as of March 26th onwards, are priced at Baht 2,849,000 and Baht 3,299,000, respectively. For those purchasing either a BMW 320d or a BMW X3 2.0d model at the Motor Show will receive a I-Pod Nano 4 GB orI-Pod Nano 8 GB, respectively. In order to continuously entice the CBU market and to reinforce BMW’s leading position in design and high performance, another highlight will be the newly-imported fourth generation compact BMW M3 Coupe equipped with a 6-speed manual gear and V8-cylinder, 32 valve twin-cam High Performance 4.0cc engine, which can produce 420 HP/8,300 RPM with a maximum torque of 40.7 NM/3,900 RPM. Even though it is equipped with a V8-cylinder, this powerful engine is 15 kilos lighter than the previous in-line 6-cylinder engine, and provides an acceleration rate of 4.8 seconds from 0 — 100 km/hour. It is also fuel consumption efficient at 8.1 km/liter, making the M3 Coupe the perfect choice at a price of Baht 9.9 million. Another CBU model that has been especially imported as a crowd-pleaser will be the BMW 630i with its eye-catching design, state-of-the-art technology and high performance. Priced in Thailand at Baht 9.2 million, this model has already received overwhelming response from customers worldwide. Furthermore, MINI Thailand will showcase the MINI Clubman and MINI Convertible Sidewalk, at the Motor Show 2008. Reflecting the MINI’s design philosophy, “From the Original to the Original”, the MINI Clubman’s innovative design includes the ‘Door Concept’, which comes with 5 doors, a 24cm longer body and 260-liter spacious boot. The MINI Cooper Clubman is equipped with a 1.6cc engine that can produce powerful performance of 120 HP/6,000 RPM with a maximum torque of 160 NM/4,250 RPM. Its acceleration rate from 0 - 100 km/hour is within 9.8 seconds, and offers a maximum speed of 201 km/hour. The highlight of the Cooper engine is high torque at low RPM with an overtaking acceleration speed of only 10.2 seconds between 80 — 120 km/hour while fuel consumption is 18.2 km/liter. While Cooper Clubman is priced at Baht 2,700,000, the Cooper S Clubman retails for Baht 3,200,000, including a 3-year or 50,000 km. Differentiating itself from its predecessor, this facelift model features a more Enduro appearance with unambiguous, robust and high quality nano-layered stainless steel covering the front tank area. The upper front wing has been redesigned to look more masculine. The rear LED light and all new Enduro Electric damping adjustment system (ESA) are fitted as standard.
