Bangkok--16 Apr--SET As part of its investor base expansion strategy, The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET), together with Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and six insurance agencies (Office of Insurance Commission, Thai Life Assurance Association, General Insurance Association, Thai Life Underwriters Association, Insurance Brokers Association, and Thailand Insurance Institute), is assisting both the capital market and the insurance industry by developing a new product - the unit-linked life insurance policy, SET Executive Vice President-Listing and Investor Marketing Center Vichate Tantiwanich said. “The alliance has made good progress and set up committees to work on market education, staff training, regulation development and product knowledge-sharing,” Mr. Vichate added. The initiative meets investors’ demands and offers them yet another investment/savings choice. This uniquely flexible product, providing both returns and protection., will become more popular in the future. There will be at least two unit-linked insurance policy schemes issued this year. Investors will gain returns from investment while receiving life insurance and their premium will be in two parts—insurance and investment. To help the insurance industry prepare for the new product, SET will offer workshops to industry practitioners and insurance representatives.
