Bangkok--29 Apr--DTAC dtac today released the Q1 2008 results showing a customer growth of 884,000 for the period. dtac’s total customer base now stands at 16.7 million. Total revenues for Q1 2008 increased by 9.5% compared to Q1 2007 to 17.7 billion baht due mainly to customer growth. Margins improved and EBITDA grew by 20% to 5.7 billion baht due to higher revenues, cost efficiency measures and an improved balance in the interconnection traffic. Net Profit came in at 2.3 billion baht up 51% versus Q1 2007 due to the reasons mentioned above and lower finance and tax costs. dtac’s regulatory costs, consisting of revenue sharing and numbering fees, were at 26.4% of concessionary revenues, marginally up from last quarter. CEO Sigve Brekke said dtac were focusing on quality in customer uptake and continued cost efficiencies, while at the same keeping or increasing its market share in terms of revenues. “We see challenges ahead as food and fuel prices continue to hit record highs. As such the consumers have less money in the pocket for other products and services.
