Bangkok--17 Jun--DC Consultants Indian conglomerate Tata Group recently added to its global recognition with a rating by the US-based Reputation Institute. In its annual “Global 200: The World’s Best Corporate Reputations” list, the Institute named it the world’s sixth most highly reputed company. A survey was conducted on 600 of the biggest companies from 27 countries, and a shortlist of 200 was selected. From this list, Tata went to sixth place, with Japanese auto maker Toyota, Google, Sweden’s Ikea, Italy’s Ferrero, and Johnson & Johnson as the top five. Tata holds the highest position of the 11 Indian companies in the list, which includes Infosys Technologies, Maruti Udyog (Suzuki), Hero Honda Motors and Bajaj Auto. The company leapfrogged from 124th place last year, as a result of its growing reputation and presence among global business leaders. In April this year, Tata Group was also placed sixth in a list of the 25 most innovative companies, following Apple Computer, Google, Toyota, General Electric and Microsoft. The list was compiled by US financial magazine BusinessWeek in collaboration with Boston Consulting Group. Tata’s entry to the list is partly attributed to the ground-breaking development of “Nano”, the “people’s car” with a selling price of US$2,500.
