Bangkok--8 Jul--dtac The Sam Nuek Rak Ban Kerd Foundation, dtac and the Ruam Duay Chuay Kan Happy Station promote local agricultural wisdom by honoring the farmers who contribute to the knowledge of their hometowns On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the Sam Nuek Rak Ban Kerd (love your hometowns) Foundation, dtac, as its social contribution partner, and the Ruam Duay Chuay Kan Happy Station radio network proceed with their social contributions by implementing the project to establish a network of the farmers who love their hometowns, or Khrua Khai Kasetrakorn Sam Nuek Rak Ban Kerd in Thai. In the project, the three parties are looking for local agricultural wisdom. They will give prizes and moral support to the farmers with the outstanding wisdom nationwide and later share the useful knowledge with farmers in general. Mr. Boonchai Bencharongkul, chairman of dtac and the Sam Nuek Rak Ban Kerd Foundation, says the Khrua Khai Kasetrakorn Sam Nuek Rak Ban Kerd project is looking for the farmers who apply their agricultural knowledge, skills and techniques well with technologies. Such farmers are thus independent and able to cope with situations thanks to their capability of building on their local resources. Staff members of the project are looking for the outstanding knowledge of farming, livestock, fishing, sustainable agriculture, land development, water management for agriculture, agro-tourism development, processed agricultural products, the conservation and development of local products, and the management and development of community businesses. The project builds on the intention of the Sam Nuek Rak Ban Kerd Foundation to encourage people to be responsible for their local communities and to promote the sufficiency principle of His Majesty the King. dtac and the Sam Nuek Rak Ban Kerd Foundation are inviting agencies, institutes, communities, networks of communities, the youth, Tambon administration organizations, farmers and the general public to submit the details of outstanding farmers as mentioned to the contest. A committee of experts will select the best farmer in each of the 76 provinces. Each of the selected farmers will obtain a prize worth 50,000 baht that will help sponsor their farming and be a token of moral support. The selected farmers will then form a network that will spread their knowledge to other farmers in general. Mr. Sigve Brekke, dtac chief executive officer, says the support for the Khrua Khai Kasetrakorn Sam Nuek Rak Ban Kerd project serves the social contribution intention of dtac which is determined to promote the good deeds of people at all levels. The project with support from parties concerned will introduce the farmers who are grassroots in society to sustainable development. For a decade, dtac has been sponsoring projects of the Sam Nuek Rak Ban Kerd Foundation. The company continuously awards scholarships to a total of 999 young people from all provinces in the country until their graduation. It hopes these young people, most of whom are the children of Thai farmers, have good chances in education and grow to be the capable adults who will return to their hometowns and push for the development of their communities. With the project, dtac intends to be the force that helps create the sustainable development of Thailand.
