Bangkok--19 Aug--DTAC Happy introduces the Rab Sai Rab Sap (cashing in on incoming calls) SIM that suits the Post IC (Interconnection Charge) era as customers can earn 50 satang per minute when receiving calls from customers of other networks that share an interconnection charge system with dtac. Thana Thienachariya, Chief Commercial Officer of Total Access Communication Public Company Limited (dtac), says after the Thai telecommunications industry entered the IC era early this year, the operators of the networks where phone calls originate must pay interconnection charges to the operators of the destined networks. Under such system, operators cannot lower their call tariff below the IC rate. “Under the IC system that is aimed at promoting fair competition, operators are introducing the promotional packages that impose higher fees on calls made to other networks than the fees of calls made inside a network. The practice reflects real operating costs but customers must pay more when they call users of other networks,” Mr. Thana says. However, through the new Happy SIM, customers will not only enjoy direct benefit from IC but the industry will also be able to maintain the IC system. The Rab Sai Rab Sap SIM gives free airtime values to the customers who receive calls from other networks (AIS and True Move). The rate of the free airtime value is 50 satang per minute and the earning is limited at 2,000 baht per month. “Happy would like to go against the IC flow by targeting the segment of the customers who rarely make phone calls, usually receive incoming calls and have friends who are the subscribers of other phone networks. This is a pioneering promotional package under the IC era and Happy will keep launching such promotional packages to offer new choices to customers. This is to allow the IC system to maintain fair competition and enable customers and operators to survive and benefit from IC,” Mr. Thana adds. Dr. Ketchayong Skowratananont, head of the prepaid business division of Total Access Communication Plc, says “We do believe that brand is the experience that customers gain and remember from our repeated actions. This is why the Happy brand keeps introducing kind services such as translation services and lending airtime values to underline the brand. This Rab Sai Rab Sap SIM is another kind service of Happy to strengthen our brand. Part of the refunds comes from the IC that we collect from the other networks and the other part comes from what we save from our marketing expenses.” The Rab Sai Rab Sap SIM from Happy is available at 69 baht. The phone charge for outgoing calls within the dtac network is set at 1 baht per minute and that for calls made to other networks is 2 baht for the first minute and 1 baht per minute of longer conversation. Subscription must be made within September 30, 2008, and the privilege will last until September 30, 2009.
