Bangkok--10 Sep--Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide The Volvo C30 is ranked highest in total quality among “small specialty cars” and is one of the ten least-polluting cars in Strategic Vision’s quality survey on the American website ForbesAuto.com. While the XC60 has been chosen as 1 of 51 cars that could be voted as World Car of the Year 2009. The winner is to be announced in April next year. “Volvo C30” scored 908 out of 1,000 points and came first in the category “Small specialty car under $30,000”. The Strategic Vision survey found that owners particularly like its exterior styling and workmanship, power and safety. The Volvo gives its drivers a sense of freedom and individuality while meeting needs for comfort and convenience, the report says. “It was not a surprise at all when the C30 was voted highest in total quality among other cars in the segment because it has proven itself ever since its debut with several prestigious awards from across the world’s automotive industry. In Thailand, it also received well response from customers since its official launch in March,” says Mr.Paul Stokes, President of Volvo Cars (Thailand) Ltd. At the same time, Volvo C30 tied on seventh place with S40/V50 in the list of ten least-polluting luxury cars surveyed by ForbesAuto.com. The list also saw Volvo S60 ranked at eighth place. So to speak, Volvo had 4 models in this top-ten list. Volvo Cars’ new crossover model, XC60, which could be voted World Car of the Year 2009 made its world premier at the Geneva Motor Show earlier in March and will reach dealers in Europe in autumn 2008 with the U.S. launch following shortly thereafter. The World Car award is one of the most prestigious and credible programs of their type in the world which is conducted annually since 2003. A notable feature that would make this XC60 a winner would be its world-first standard feature “City Safety” in which the SUV can automatically use the brakes at low speeds in order to avoid any sort of collision in the front. “Continuous research and enhancement of safety in and around our cars will be essential for achieving a safer driver environment and a collision-free future. In the shorter perspective the aim is that by 2020 no one should be killed or injured in a Volvo,” Mr.Stokes concludes.
