The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET)’s SET in the City 2008 will include award presentations to outstanding listed companies, securities firms, asset management organizations and executives. As well as providing investors with updated information for their decisions, the event will heighten awareness and understanding of corporate governance (CG) and social responsibility (CSR).
The Exchange will hold two major award ceremonies - SET Awards 2008, Shareholder Awards 2008 and the Corporate Governance Report of Thai Listed Companies - at SET in the City 2008 on Friday, November 21 at 17:00 hours, at Royal Paragon Hall, 5/f, Siam Paragon Shopping Complex, Bangkok. Deputy Prime Minister Olarn Chaipravat will chair the opening ceremony, SET President Patareeya Benjapolchai said.
SET and Money and Banking Magazine will honor eight listed, securities and asset management companies. There will be a further 26 awards, including 18 for firms with outstanding CG, investor relations, CSR and environmental integrity. Other honors include three awards to best shareholders and six awards to listed firms having good conduct to shareholders.
“In addition, Thailand Securities Depository Co., Ltd. (TSD) has planned Shareholder Awards 2008 to heighten the awareness of CG’s importance. The event will promote the roles of shareholders as influencing managerial balance and as investment asset owners and demonstrate how this leads to sustained organizational development,” TSD Chief Executive Officer Sopawadee Lertmanaschai said.
SET and Thai Institute of Directors will announce those listed firms whose CG policy meets Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development : OECD standards.
