Deloitte, one of Thailand’s leading professional service firms providing Audit, Tax, Consulting, Financial Advisory and Enterprise Risk Services, has sponsored the Wild Animal Rescue Foundation of Thailand a “Save Our Sea Turtles” project. The company plans to donate a sea turtle clinic, including necessary equipment and facilities in the clinic, to support the conservation of these endangered creatures. This project is a part of Deloitte’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) in this year.
Subhasakdi Krishnamra, Managing Director of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Jaiyos, said that the company has prioritized CSR as one of the core policies since the year 2000. Its CSR has focused on the education of underprivileged children and environmental preservation.
Some of the company’s successful projects include the sponsorships to Rong Rein Khong Noo Project to build schools for hill tribe children, the Thai Elephant Conservation Project to build an elephant hospital, the Sathorn District to plant pocket parks, and the Huai Hong Krai Royal Development Study Centre to build check dams to preserve water in the forest.
Every year the company gives opportunities to its staff to take part in its CSR activities, from voting for the most valuable project to making products for sales, to raise funds to contribute to the company’s donations to the project.
“This year, we at Deloitte saw how important it is to protect sea turtles from human and natural disasters,” said Subhasakdi. “For this reason we are sponsoring a sea turtle clinic to the Wild Animal Rescue Foundation of Thailand.”
To save the lives of sea turtles and help them to live in a sustainable environment, Deloitte’s staff made a list of 10 sea turtle-related products which can be sold to the general public. On their list are t-shirts, polo shirts, turtle watches, turtle dolls, neck pillows, leather ID card cases, travel kit bags, notebooks, coffee mugs and multi purpose bags.
Money from the sales will be added to the company’s donation to support the building of a clinic for sea turtles and other marine creatures, with nursery pools and oxygen pumps at Baan Talae Nork Sea Turtle Conservation Project in Ranong Province of Thailand in January 2009.
Subhasakdi added that Deloitte and its staff are committed to activities contributed to the benefits of our society, from a small workplace to our community and eventually, to our country.
