CPN demonstrated strong growth with an increase of 11.9% in revenue over the same period the year before, up to about 2,100 million baht as a result of improved performance at every shopping centre owned by CPN. The occupancy at all shopping centers rose from 95% to 97% and shopper traffic at every branch rose an average of 12%. CPN is pouring over 200 million baht into its end-of-the-year campaigns, CentralPlaza Gift Wonderland and The World of Happiness @ CentralWorld for shoppers to get a chance to win prizes worth more than 25 million baht from CPN and partners. Over 250 events will be up at all CPN shopping centers during the festive season to pull in more shoppers and stimulate sales in the final quarter. Mr. Naris Cheryklin, Senior Executive Vice President, Finance & Accounting, Property, Sales and Marketing of CPN, said, “CPN’s business growth was up to target this year. Our sales in the first nine months rose 12% to about 6,400 million baht compared to the same period the year before. The major supporting factor was our professional business strategies that helped CPN’s occupancy rate and income rise steadily. As for business expansion, all four of our new projects are proceeding according to the schedule. Shopping centres are a long-term investment. Although the economy has slowed, CPN sees an advantage of decreased construction costs. I predict that next year our financial performance will still be up to target thanks to the opening of four new shopping centres, namely, CentralPlaza Chaengwatana, CentralFestival Pattaya Beach, CentralPlaza Cholburi and CentralPlaza Khon Kaen. We expect around 30% growth from 2008 the opening of the 4 new shopping centers next year.” In the third quarter the occupancy rate at CPN’s shopping centres rose on average from 95% to 97%. Average people traffic of first nine month this year rose 12% as a result of the wide variety of events and sales promotions that were held, which enabled CPN to provide different experiences to shoppers with different lifestyles. Large numbers of customers were attracted to every branch, but the most noticeable increase in traffic was at CentralPlaza Rama 2, which experienced a 30% growth in traffic thanks to many activities that directly appealed to target customers, such as the AF Power Active Tour concert, the Green Charity Concert, the Dutchie Boys & Girls 2008 contest, and the Luxury Car Showcase, as well as an increase in residential developments in the area. As for CPN’s year-end marketing strategy, Dr. Nattakit Tangpoonsinthana, Executive Vice President for Marketing of CPN said, “We’ve prepared a budget of more than 200 million baht to hold year-end campaigns: CentralPlaza Giftwonderland 2009 and The World of Happiness @ CentralWorld in order to give some of our profits back to our customers and make sure they have fun with their holiday shopping. I am sure that the mood for shopping will be better now than at the beginning of the year because it’s the holiday season, and everyone tends to spend more. Since oil prices have dropped, that should take some of the pressure off people’s expenses and consumer spending should rise. Our marketing strategy is to join our allies, including credit card companies, Thai Airways, Toyota and all the stores in our shopping centers, to provide good offers for shoppers. We are also planning some very interesting and remarkable events to get people in the mood for spending. Naturally, the shopping centers will also be decorated for people to come to take photos during the festive seasons. These features will encourage more people to come in. We have set a goal of a 40% increase in traffic in the fourth quarter and shops in the shopping centers propably see a 30% growth in sales during the holiday season.” The CentralPlaza Gift Wonderland 2009 campaign will take place from 20 November 2008 to 15 January 2009. Every time you spend 1,000 baht at any branch of CentralPlaza, you will get a chance to enter a lucky draw. Other special prizes are ten Prima Gold pendants and special prizes from Royal Trophy, a Golf Championship of leading pros from Europe & Asian, including golf bags, hats, umbrellas, and T-shirts, and many more prizes.
