Panasonic proves its leadership in battery market by introducing “EVOLTA”, the fourth generation battery which is recognized by Guinness World Records 2008 as No.1 Long Lasting in AA Alkaline Battery Cell. The new battery is created by a new evolved technology and materials, making it last longer than regular battery.
Panasonic Battery division, under the management of Panasonic Siew Sales (Thailand) Co., Ltd., has announced its leadership in battery market and launched “Panasonic EVOLTA Battery” to the Thai market. Its new technology for battery structure, materials and production processes ensure the maximum performance. It is recognized by Guinness World Records 2008 as No. 1 Long Lasting in AA Alkaline Battery Cell. The product was first launch in Japan since April this year with more than one million Panasonic EVOLTA batteries have been sold till now.
Mr. Hirotaka Murakami, CEO of Panasonic Group in Thailand, said battery markets in Thailand, among other countries in the world, has so far experienced tremendous growth. Panasonic introduces EVOLTA battery, which is recognized by Guinness World Records 2008 as No. 1 Longest Lasting in AA Alkaline battery cell.
“The demand of high-performance battery is increasing continually. It derives from the advancement and development of new electronic devices, which require superior energy supply. In order to satisfy the market demand — and as refers to Panasonic’s philosophy, aiming to create quality products to serve various consumers’ lifestyle, under the brand slogan ‘Panasonic ideas for life’; Panasonic has developed Panasonic EVOLTA battery (which derives its name from ‘Evolution’ and ‘Voltage’). Panasonic EVOLTA is the fourth generation of battery cell after (first generation) Manganese; (second generation) Alkaline; (third generation) Oxyride. Panasonic EVOLTA battery technology - the combined result of evolutions in structure, materials and production processes, delivers superior performance. The product was specifically designed to work with a variety of electronic devices that range from low-middle-drain remote controls, portable radios and MP3 players to high-drain digital cameras”, said Mr. Hirotaka Murakami.
Mr. Takuya Tanimoto, Deputy Director; Panasonic Siew Sales (Thailand) Co., Ltd., said Panasonic EVOLTA battery is developed with new manufacturing process to provide more internal space for the storage of Panasonic’s newly-developed cathode and anode materials, designed to deliver superior performance and chemical reaction. To maximize performance Panasonic also improve the manufacturing process to pack this active material more evenly and densely. In addition, Panasonic EVOLTA battery’s superior sealing technology increase its overall durability.
“In Thailand, Panasonic positions new Panasonic EVOLTA battery as “Flagship Model”, emphasizing on the fact that it is the real long lasting battery cells. Marketing activities will be introduced to make consumers aware of EVOLTA’s efficiency, which will drive the growth of Alkaline battery market in Thailand. More than 100 million baht is budged for the promotion. Panasonic expects to sell 3 million batteries in the first three months, then 5 million batteries within the first half of 2009, and achieve 10 million batteries by the year ended 2009” Mr. Hirotaka Murakami said.
Regarding a battery testing standard, based on the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), the test result revealed that Panasonic EVOLTA battery deliver excellent performance in wide range of equipments from low-current applications such as TV remotes to high-drain applications like digital cameras.
To further support the test, Panasonic also conducted device testing and results are:
- A digital camera powered by Panasonic EVOLTA batteries took 260 shots, compared with a digital camera powered by Alkaline batteries took 170 shots.
- An FM radio powered by Panasonic EVOLTA batteries can play up to 124 hours, compared with an FM radio powered by Alkaline batteries can play up to 110 hours.
- Electronic toys - a music monkey powered by Panasonic EVOLTA batteries can play up to 8.4 hours, compared with a music monkey powered by Alkaline batteries can play up to 6.5 hours.
“I believe that new Panasonic EVOLTA battery is the ultimate power solution for consumers and will enhance everyday life by delivering superior portable energy solutions,” said Mr. Hirotaka Murakami.
To demonstrate the power of Panasonic EVOLTA battery, Mr. Tomotaka Takahashi, a genius robot creator from Japan, invented the robot named “EVOLTA Robot,” a 17 cm. tall robot that create a new chapter of technology history. The robot was able to climb a 530-meter rope (or 3,100 times higher than its height), dangling from a cliff of Grand Canyon National Park on May 24, 2008. The robot, powered by only two Panasonic EVOLTA AA batteries, took 6 hours and 46 minutes.
