The Climate Game Change , a seminar on climate change adaptation, will be held in Bangkok on 22 January, 2009 .
Hosted by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) and jointly organized with the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), the Climate Game Change will address issues such as:
- How to promote financing for adaptation to climate change in the region?
- What positive impact do investors and donors have on climate change adaptation in the region?
- What are the business related risks and opportunities, and how are they being addressed by major companies in the region?
- How can development partners, private and public investors and companies work together to stimulate sustainable development while facing the threat posed by climate change?
Mr. Achim Steiner, the Executive Director of the United Nations Environmental Programme will deliver the keynote speech at the seminar, which will take place at the UN Conference Centre.
“We want to take the initiative and address this timely agenda of climate change adaptation. Climate change waits for no one,” said Dr. Anders Nordstr?m, Sida’s Director-General. “Sida’s aim with this conference is to deepen necessary talks and contribute to the global progress toward adaptation both in policy and action. We want to bring stakeholders together and use our collective knowledge and experience to push forth solutions to this pressing issue. We look forward to meeting everyone in Bangkok .”
