Bangkok--9 Dec--Hill & Knowlton
Rolls-Royce Thailand and the Thailand Board of Investment (BOI) recently hosted the Rolls-Royce Thailand Supply Chain Event, a joint initiative to promote mutual manufacturing and partnership opportunities between Rolls-Royce, Rolls-Royce suppliers and Thai-based suppliers.
The initiative provided local suppliers, manufacturers and industry leaders an opportunity to fully understand the Rolls-Royce business and its long term vision for supply chain management. Further meetings will be arranged between Rolls-Royce and Thai suppliers or manufacturers who have common ground to take potential partnerships to the next stage.
Chitaworn Worasak, Deputy Secretary General of the Thailand Board of Investment said, “The BOI welcomes initiatives such as this, as we share a mutual interest in promoting business exchanges between Europe and Asia. We have the highest regard for Rolls-Royce in respect of its vision and its commitment to developing the country’s long term business capability. This event is a significant step that will undoubtedly be to the mutual benefit of Rolls-Royce and the people of Thailand.”
Paul Freestone, Managing Director, Rolls-Royce Thailand commented, “Recently, we have signed the first long-term agreement with Thai-based Weston SEA for the production of compressor blades and vanes. We are continuing to review appropriate opportunities to further develop our manufacturing presence in Thailand in order to bring high-value, high-skills employment to the country.”
Rolls-Royce has had a presence in Thailand since 1989 when it opened its regional office in Bangkok and today continues to be a key partner of the Thai airline industry exemplified in part by its long relationship with Thai Airways International, Bangkok Airways, and PB Air.
