Hitachi Data Systems Survey Helps to Shape Winning Storage Strategies That Tide Current Economic Downturn

Bangkok--11 Dec--Core & Peak the phenomenal growth of data makes storage a top priority in enterprises even in the wake of the current financial crisis. A whopping 88% of the CIOs interviewed confirmed this fact that formed a part of the results of a survey conducted by Hitachi Data Systems Corporation, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd. (NYSE: HIT) and the only provider of Services Oriented Storage Solutions. Technology heads taking part in the survey from across Asia Pacific unanimously agreed that IT is embedded closely in all business operations, which make leveraging IT efficiently a critical task. The survey results also revealed several key findings that raise valuable insights on the synergy between the business and the technology environment. Improving operational effectiveness (86%) and reducing cost of infrastructure (74%) are the most popular factors that determine IT spend. Improving competitive position and value-added service from vendors trailed at 64% and 52% respectively as deciding factors for an organisation’s IT spend. On the topic of storage solutions spend amidst the turmoil in the money markets, 57% of the CIOs stated that they would not reduce their storage investments. Managing costs (69%) and allocation of storage resources (52%) are the most critical tasks to be achieved in the uncertain economic climate, while a centralized approach to business is the single-most important factor that defines business success according technology decision-makers. Building a convincing business argument to justify storage investments (52%) and doing more with current assets (50%) were two most sought after needs from a technology vendor, going into 2009. “In these uncertain economic times, the reality is IT budgets will continue to get scrutinized, even though data continues to grow rapidly and expectations on service levels continue to increase on IT.
