Bangkok--24 Dec--Spark Communications
Robert Bosch (Thailand) launched the “Surprisingly Powerful — Bosch GDR 10.8 V Li-ion Cordless Impact Driver” and introduced the Bosch Powerwall — a CSR initiative for better tradesmen of tomorrow in Thailand.
During a 3-day event held from December 19-21 at Carrefour Lad Prao, interactive activities and DIY seminars featuring the company’s latest innovation - the latest addition to its growing line-up of Lithium Ion cordless power tools were on display to try out. Hundreds of visitors to the Bosch event space also took part in helping the company fill-in the Bosch Powerwall with screws to reach designated plateaus wherein the company will donate products to leading trade schools in the country. The free activity helped Bosch achieve its goal — reaching the Baht 250,000 plateau worth of Bosch product donation in the coming weeks.
Khun Chaiyaporn Ratanachetkul, General Manager, Power Tools, Robert Bosch (Thailand) commented, “The Bosch Powerwall is a concept we came up with to get people involved in helping us to ensure that Thai trade students of tomorrow have the best possible tools to help facilitate and maximize their potential as craftsmen. In helping us to fill-in the Bosch Powerwall, everyone played a part in ensuring that tomorrow’s craftsmen are using the very best tools on the market.”
The Future of Cordless Power Tools — Today
Bosch, a Thai market leader and leading global power tool brand was the first in Thai market to introduce Lithium Ion cordless power tools. Bosch recently added the GDR10.8 V Li-ion impact driver as part of its professional Li-ion range of products.
The GDR 10.8 V Li-ion cordless impact driver, at only 160mm long and 170mm high, delivers 100 Newton-meters of torque turning power (about twice that of a 12 volt drill-driver), yet it weighs less than 1 kilogram (about half that of a standard 12 volt impact driver). The world's most compact impact driver gives you full power at half the size.
Despite its small size, the GDR 10.8 V Li-ion cordless impact driver has a no-load speed of 1800 revolutions per minute and an impact rate of 3000 per minute, which means that it can perform about 80 percent of all work considered appropriate for impact-drivers - perfect for driving and un-tightening bolts and screwing into pre-drilled concrete.
For drilling or screw-driving in wood, the GDR — with its faster revolutions than most cordless screwdrivers — has the speed advantage, particularly when working with small diameter fixings. The GDR incorporates a high-performance impact-mechanism where there is no kick-back, ensuring less user fatigue.
It has an integrated luminous ring at the front of the tool that has three bright LEDs specially designed to make it easier to work in dark areas such as inside cupboards, electrical panels or ducting.
The Lithium Ion Advantage
The GDR 10.8 V Li-ion cordless impact driver is powered by rechargeable state-of-the-art Lithium Ion batteries. Lithium Ion technology delivers the same performance as conventional rechargeable batteries and yet is smaller in size and lighter in weight. An even more important benefit of this technology is that the battery does not discharge itself automatically and can deliver full power after being unused for up to a year. Furthermore, lithium ion batteries do not have a memory effect that can limit the battery life of non-lithium ion type batteries.
In addition, Bosch’s innovative lithium-ion batteries have a lifetime of up to 400% longer than comparable batteries from other manufacturers. This is due to a technological breakthrough by Bosch - "Electronic Cell Protection (ECP)", which protects the battery against overload, overheating and total discharge while its optimized heat management system prevents damage from excessive heating of the batteries. The battery can be fully charged within 30 minutes and 75% charging within 15 minutes markedly minimising down time and increasing productivity.
Khun Chaiyaporn Ratanchetkul, General Manager, Power Tools, Robert Bosch Limited added, “The GDR 10.8 V Li-ion Cordless Impact Driver is fast becoming a must-have for professional builders, fitters and tradespersons throughout Thailand. With its durability, and flexibility in such a lightweight design, the GDR 10.8 V Li-ion Cordless Impact Driver is surprisingly powerful and provides incredible convenience on the job site, or around the home.”
