Teleconference: Rating And Outlook Changes On Highly-Rated Sovereigns; 01/13/09@ 10:30 AM NY Time, 3:30 PM U.K. Time
Standard & Poor's Ratings Services will hold a telephone conference call on Tuesday, January 13, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. U.S. Eastern Standard Time, 3:30 pm U.K. Time, 16:30 CET to discuss the rationale behind and assumptions driving the various rating actions following a review of systemically important, highly-rated sovereign governments by Standard & Poor’s. On January 9, 12 and 13, 2009 Standard & Poor’s affirmed the AAA/stable/A-1+ ratings of the Commonwealth of Australia, Republic of Austria, Canada, Kingdom of Denmark, Republic of Finland, Republic of France, Federal Republic of Germany, State of Netherlands, Kingdom of Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom; and United States; the AA+/stable/A-1+ ratings of the Kingdom of Belgium; the AA/stable/A-1+ ratings of Japan; and the A+/stable/A-1+ ratings of the Republic of Italy. It affirmed the AAA/A-1+ rating on the Republic of Ireland and the AA+/stable/A-1 rating on New Zealand, but revised the ratings’ outlooks to negative from stable. The AAA/stable/A-1+ of the Kingdom of Spain, AA-/stable/A-1+ of the Republic of Portugal, and the A/stable/A-1+ of the Hellenic Republic (Greece) were placed on CreditWatch with negative implications pending further information on the government’s fiscal and financial policies.
The Sovereign analysts participating in this call will include: David Beers and Frank Gill.
At the conclusion of the prepared remarks, the speakers will be joined by additional Standard & Poor's sovereign credit analysts to answer questions.
