Bangkok--16 Feb--MTEC The Stage for Reducing Global Warming! EcoDesign 2009 searches for the greatest inventors and encourages the creativity on “Reducing Global Warming” to win the royal trophies from HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn The Thai Green Design Network (TGDN) under the supervision of the National Metal and Materials Technology Center (MTEC), National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) supported by Ministry of Industry Ministry of Science and Technology in associated with Ministry of Industry, sponsored by Thai Airways International PCL, Thailand Creative and Design Center (TCDC), and Pure Care Cosmetics make an announcement on the stage for searching the greatest inventors and encouraging creativity on reducing global warming in the 2nd Thailand EcoDesign Award: EcoDesign 2009 program under the theme “Reduce Global Warming with EcoDesign”, held at the conference hall of Ministry of Science and Technology on Rama VI Road with the aim to stimulate awareness of Thai people in helping solve the increasing global warming problem induced by human beings by opening the stage for students, industrial designers and interested public to express their innovative ideas in reducing global warming. The winners will receive royal trophies from Her Royal Highness Princess Maka Chakri Sirindhorn together with cash and other awards with total value of over 300,000 baht. The innovative entries can be submitted from now until March 31, 2009. Dr. Khunying. Kalaya Sophonpanich, Minister of Science and Technology, presides over the ceremony and Mr. Ratchada Singalavanija, The Director-general of Department of Industrial Works, states the roles to support ecodesign products in Thai industrial. the Deputy Director of the National Metal and Materials Technology Center (MTEC), Asst.Prof. Dr. Krisda Suchiva, to open and present the creative idea samples of EcoDesign in form of exhibition and video as well as the highlight talk show with a modern artist Mr. Kongpat Sakdapitak and Dr. Kittinan Unnanon about the concept of EcoDesign development, including the explanation of competition format and rules. Dr. Khunying. Kalaya Sophonpanich, Minister of Science and Technology said that the 2nd Thailand EcoDesign Award: EcoDesign 2009 is the important program that helps all Thai people realize the increasingly serious global warming problem induced by human beings. As a result, human beings have a vital mission in solving the global warming problem and at the same time, the participants of this program are considered as significant personnel who present various concepts in accordance with their own experiences and apply them to the existing knowledge and technology as well as the creativity in making EcoDesign, which have become the guideline for concept development that effects the future technology and leads to advancement in terms of science and technology of Thailand. Mr. Ratchada Singalavanija, The Director-general of Department of Industrial Works, the supporter of this program, said that currently the economic & ecological design; EcoDesign or Green Design is the active approach in dealing with global warming problem as we can see that agencies, organizations, companies and entrepreneurs from all over the world pay attention to the design and production of products and services that are environment-friendly with the purpose to reduce waste, prolong product lifetime, decrease pollution in production and increase the number of reused products to avoid the bad effect that will follow through the lifetime of products or services. Consequently, EcoDesign is now very important in term of trade and export in this social world where this competition is considered as a part of the concept development for furthering the development of Thai industry. The Deputy Director of National Metal and Materials Technology Center (MTEC), Asst.Prof. Dr. krisda Suchiva said that the 2nd Thailand EcoDesign Award: EcoDesign 2009 program under the theme “Reduce Global Warming with EcoDesign” is an activity under the supervision of Thai Green Design Network (TGDN) and National Metal and Materials Technology Center, supported by Ministry of Industry and several private companies. The purposes of this program are creating realization and participation for all sectors about the EcoDesign or environment-friendly product design and promote EcoDesign or environment-friendly products. Especially, we provide free and subscription-based e-learning and training for introduction of economic & ecological design (EcoDesign) for interested persons through the website: www.mtec.or.th/ecodesign2009 Divisions of EcoDesign 2009 are as follows: - Division 1 Students in secondary school/ high school or equivalence - Division 2 Undergraduate and graduate students or equivalence - Division 3 Independent inventors and interested public - Division 4 Industrial sector and Thailand-based businesses Participants can join the competition and submit work as individual or team of up to 3 members. Endorsement from a school or university advisor is required for application forms and entries of Division 1 (students in secondary school/ high school or equivalence) and Division 2 (undergraduate and graduate students or equivalence).
