It was announced today that Harvest Enterprises Limited will hold their final clearance sale from Saturday, February 28, 2009 in order to prepare for the closing of the Habitat Thailand business operating at Siam Discovery on March 29, 2009.
“It is with great regret that we must close the Habitat business. The final day of operation will be on March 29, 2009,” stated Chanintr Sirisant, Managing Director of Harvest Enterprises Ltd., the operator or Habitat Thailand, “While Habitat has been a key leader in design for the home, we’ve unfortunately had to make the difficult decision based upon contractual negotiations with Habitat UK and our company’s strategy to focus on the luxury sector of the home furnishings business.”
It was also reported that Habitat Thailand grew their business by more than 15% in 2008 vs 2007 while showing slight growth in its strong level of customer visits. However, despite these positive trends, the choice has been made to close Habitat to allow the parent company to focus on the high-end sector of the home furnishings business rather than devoting additional resources to fulfill commitments with Habitat UK.
