H.R.H. Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn presided over the grand opening ceremony of the 42nd Diplomatic Red Cross Bazaar 2009 which organized by the Thai Red Cross Society in association with ambassadors’ wives on Saturday February 28, 2009 at Royal Paragon Hall, the International Affair and Exhibition Center , floor 5 Siam Paragon Shopping Complex. In this event , Mr. Phan Wannamethee, Secretary-General of the Thai Red Cross Society, M.R. Priyangsri Watanakun, Assistant Secretary-General, and Director of the Fund - Raising Bureau, and Mrs. Simona Trojan de Velasco, Wife of H.E. the Ambassador of Peru and Chairperson of the DPC (Diplomatic Participants’ Committee) 2009, joined together with other member management committees and graciously welcomed, then presented all the proceeds to H.R.H. Princess.
The Diplomatic Red Cross Bazaar is a traditional annual activity through which diplomatic wives of various countries raise funds to assist the Thai Red Cross Society to purchase medical equipment to help improve the health and nursing care available to needy people in Thailand.
This year event, almost 50 countries participated eg. Canada, Switzerland, USA, France, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Morocco etc. More than 100 stalls with various national handicrafts and foreign goods were provided on sale. Diplomatic Raffles are also produced and will be sold at the price of 50 baht for one ticket. Many of interesting prizes which spondsored by embassies and business companies e.g. Round Trip Tickets to London, Nepal, Turkey, Singapore and Philippines, home appliance and hotel gift vouchers are provided for the lucky winners to be drawn on 12th March 2009 at 10.00 am. at the meeting room, 4th Floor the Amnuaynoratham Building, The Thai Red Cross Society.
The fair will be opened to public during 10.00 a.m. — 8.00 p.m., people who will visit this fair have to buy the ticket which is cost 50 Baht. All proceeds will benefit the Thai Red Cross Society.
