In defiance of the current global economic situation, Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau or TCEB, in conjunction with the strategic partners, the Thai Trade Exhibition Association (TEA) and the Nation Multimedia Group Plc., host the prestigious annual “Dinner Talk Forum”. Meeting to discuss “The Global Economic Crisis” two of the world’s most prominent and respected economic gurus will lead the discussion regarding ways to limit the impact of the global credit crisis on the Thai economy under the topic “ Riding out the US Financial Crisis: Implication for Asia and Thailand”. The forum is a part of TCEB’s proactive marketing policies to strengthen the country’s exhibitions industry, an essential part of the Thai economy. In 2009, TCEB is expecting 636,000 business travelers to enter the country, generating more than 52,000 million Baht in revenue.
Bangkok/ February 25th, 2009 - “The current global economy situation has affected all sectors of business, and the exhibition industry is no exception, revealed Mr. Natwut Amornvivat, President of Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB), “It is TCEB’s mission to attract and develop corporate meetings, incentive events, conventions, and especially to promote exhibitions, which in turn will enhance Thai economy. TCEB, thus, stage this Dinner Talk Forum in order to instill confidence in the industry and stimulate preparations against the negative effects of the economic crisis.”
The primary function of the “Dinner Talk Forum” is to provide a platform to demonstrate the potential of the exhibitions industry in Thailand, and to exchange knowledge and business expertise in a forum attended by business leaders, economists and academics. It is hoped that the result will be a greater understanding of the consequences of the current global economic crisis in terms of business in Thailand, as well as a comprehensive review of what is needed to buffer the country against negative economic growth. Of particular importance will be a discussion on how best to ensure that Thailand stays as the exhibition industry leader in Asia and indeed globally.
Mr. Natwut went on to say, “The Dinner Forum Talk is co-hosted by the Thai Trade Exhibition Association and the Nation Multimedia Group Plc., and will feature two of the world’s most prominent economic gurus, Dr. Arvind Subramanian, who will lead the discussions with a presentation entitled “Riding out the US Financial Crisis: Implications for Asia and Thailand”, and Dr. Suvit Maesincee who will enlighten those present with a lecture entitled “Thriving in the New Age of Global Capitalism”.
Dr. Suvit Maesincee, said, “In order to cope with today’s global financial meltdown, business event is another tool for enhancing the current economic situation by bringing both direct and indirect income to nations. The business event industry is the platform that can bring coordination, collaboration, connectivity and interactivity among all relevant stakeholders, stimulating global demand. In addition, the business event industry is integral to enhancing a nation’s wealth along with global trade.”
The Dinner Talk Forum will also play host to exhibitions from government and private organizations, including the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, the Board of Investment of Thailand, the Department of Export Promotion, the Federation of Thai Industries, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Customs Department. Each of the exhibition holders will be sharing their extensive knowledge and providing an environment for business networking.
