Siam Commercial Bank's Board of Directors has appointed Dr. Areepong Bhoocha-oom as Director to replace Mr. Sanit Rangnoi, who resigned his directorship effective February 23, 2009.
Currently, Dr. Areepong is the Director-General of the State Enterprise Policy Office (SEPO) at the Ministry of Finance. He has been working in several key positions at the Ministry of Finance for eight years, including terms as Deputy Director-General of SEPO, Director of the Office of State Enterprise and Government Securities, and Finance Technical Officer of the Office of State Enterprise and Government Securities of the Comptroller General's Department. Dr. Areepong also currently serves as a director and audit committee member of Bangkok Insurance PCL.
Dr. Areepong has proven expertise in finance, investment, and state enterprise affairs. He holds a Bachelor's degree in International Management from Boston University, U.S.A, a Master's degree in Finance from Marshall University, U.S.A., and a Ph. D. in Finance from the University of Mississippi, U.S.A. He has also undergone training in various courses helpful to the bank's performance, including the Directors Certificate Program from the Thai Institute of Directors, Government Debt Monitoring Systems from the World Bank, and Global Trend and Public Enterprise Reform from Harvard University, U.S.A.
Dr. Areepong's valuable experience, knowledge, and expertise will contribute greatly to performance of SCB's Board of Directors.
