Pepsi has introduced two innovations that emphasize the “Serm Suk Green Dimensions” concept in response to consumer’s demands regarding environmental conservation. These innovations are an attractive new high quality PET bottle design that is easier to hold yet will save 600 tons of plastic per year, and an energy saving refrigerator which will be installed nationwide to help retailers cut their electricity use by 34%.
Based on insights that show consumers are more sophisticated when they purchase beverages, some key factors that were taken into consideration include attractive packaging design, easy-to-hold functional benefits and environmental-friendly products. Pepsi developed new 500 ml. and 1.25L PET packaging that has a striking modern look as well as meeting the functional and environmental needs of consumers.
Dhitivute Bulsook, General Manager — Pathumthani Plant, Serm Suk Public Company Limited (SSC) said that the PET bottle is a truly unique breakthrough design made in Thailand reflecting Pepsi’s dynamic brand image as well as reinforcing the “Serm Suk Green Dimensions” concept. The new 500 ml. and 1.25L PET bottles were specially designed to offer higher quality packaging together with a sense of responsibility for the environment. The two new bottle designs uses less plastic than older designs to promote the efficient use of natural resources and reducing the use of energy.
“These new bottles are based on research into how to develop a package that is attractive to consumers, offers a better grip and minimizes plastic use. Thanks to the new PET bottle design, we are able to save over 600 tons of plastic per year. Additionally, it helps save energy in the manufacturing processes as well lowers transportation costs,” said Dhitivute.
“Serm Suk has manufactured and distributed the new PET bottles since early this year. It enjoyed a tremendous welcome from both consumers and shop owners so we believe it will prove very popular this summer season.”
Dhitivute continued “This year we are also planning to introduce a new energy saving refrigerator model identified with the ‘Serm Suk Green Dimensions’ logo. It is equipped with a larger compressor system and highly effective thermostat that enhances efficiency while lowering maintenance costs. With the new refrigerator, we can help retail shops reduce electricity use by 34%.”
