Mercedes-Benz popular B 180 CDI Sports Tourer has undergone a dramatic facelift across a broad range of features from environmental compatibility to styling, comfort, handling and safety.
Announcing the new look B 180 CDI Sports Tourer, Prof. Dr. Alexander Paufler, President and CEO of Mercdes-Benz (Thailand) said that since its market premiere in 2005, the B-Class has evolved into the blueprint for a new species of car.
“This model harmonises the benefits of various vehicle concepts with the five-door model boasting the dynamic design of a sporty saloon, the exterior dimensions of a compact car, the spaciousness of an estate, the versatility of a mini MPV and the trademark safety of a Mercedes-Benz,” he said.
A series of detailed improvements means the four-cylinder engine now also uses up to seven percent less fuel with exhaust emissions that undercut current EU limits by as much as 90 percent.
Another winning feature of the B 180 CDI is its driver assistance systems such as Hill Start Assist and Active Parking Assist. Hill Start Assist prevents the B-Class from rolling backwards as the driver switches from the brake to the accelerator pedal when starting off uphill.
The new active parking assist searches for an appropriate spot at the side of the road as the B-Class drives by, then takes care of all the steering manoeuvres as the driver reverses into it. Ultrasonic sensors at the sides of the car scan the zones to the immediate left and right of the B-Class, and measure the length and depth of any potential parking spaces.
Once a suitable spot has been found, the system flashes a message in the display to inform the driver. When the driver engages reverse, confirms the display and presses the accelerator, the active parking assist takes over and automatically manoeuvres the car into the space.
B 180 CDI Sports Tourer, the new generation powered four-cylinder diesel engine of 1992 cc, output at 80/109 kW/hp, 250 rated torque Nm at 1,600 to 2,600 rpm, acceleration 0-100 km/h within 11.8 seconds, top speed at 178 km/h., consumption 1/100 km by average at 5.6 — 6.0 and CO2 emission g/km at 148 — 158.
“The B-Class is a sophisticated and stylish vehicle, ideal for city driving, but still giving the comfort, handling and safety required for open road motoring which I believe will further extend Mercedes-Benz customer segmentation to reach more variety of target groups” Dr. Paufler said.
