THAI Adds Extra Domestic Flights for Songkran Holidays 2009

Bangkok--3 Apr--Thai Airways Thai Airways International Public Company Limited announced an additional 29 domestic flights to meet anticipated public demand for the Songkran holiday during 10-16 April 2009. ACM Narongsak Sangapong, THAI’s Acting President, said that in order to meet passenger demand during Songkran holiday, THAI is adding another 29 domestic flights on routes to and from Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Phuket, Krabi and Khon Kaen as follows: Route No. of increased flights BangkokChiang Mai v.v. 8 Bangkok— Chiang Rai v.v. 6 BangkokPhuket v.v. 8 Bangkok— Krabi v.v. 4 Bangkok— Khon Kaen v.v. 3 In addition, during 10-16 April 2009 THAI will employ larger aircraft for 57 of its domestic floghts to and from Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Phuket, Krabi, Surat Thani, Udon Thani, Ubol Rachathani and Khon Kaen. THAI will provide more than 12,400 additional seats due to high passenger demand during the holiday period. The additional seats will mean a 17.1% capacity increase, with a total of 22,674 seats. In joining the Songkran Festival celebration, THAI’s Ground Customer Services Department will arrange some special experiences to reflect Thai traditions and culture at THAI’s First Class and Business Class including Royal Orchid Plus members, traveling during 10-13 April 2009, such as the traditional water blessing and Thai traditional live music performances during 07.00 — 19.00 hrs. Passengers will be greeted by THAI staff wearing traditional Thai costumes and receive handmade flower garlands as souvenirs on this special occasion. Special Thai traditional menu will also be highlighted at the lounges, including sticky rice and mango, selection of Thai desserts as well as fruit and vegetable carving demonstration.
