Bangkok--10 Apr--Francom Asia
Luxury property developer Raimon Land visited the Chaiyapruk Foundation’s “Living Tree” home for under-privileged children to participate in a tree planting project supported by a THB600,000 donation from the company’s ongoing corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme to the American Women's Club of Thailand (AWC).
Raimon Land donated the funds last year to support the AWC’s gala dinner, with the proceeds going to the Chaiyapruk Foundation, and AWC invited company representatives to visit Living Tree recently to join in planting palm trees.
Raimon Land Senior Vice President Communications, Kwanrudee Maneewongwatthana, said: “Raimon Land remains firmly committed to its CSR programme, despite these challenging times, and to our vision of offsetting carbon emissions and to building a better environment.”
Chaiyapruk Foundation co-founder Dr Cleopandh Soorapanthu said the foundation was established in 1985, and currently provides for 60 abandoned children.
“Through a unique income-generating project, we ensure their care well into the future, and at the same time, the project, which involves planting and harvesting various trees, contributes to the reduction of greenhouse gases in Thailand,” Dr Cleopandh said.
Dr Cleopandh was joined by Chaiyapruk Foundation co-founder Dr Somsak Soorapanthu in hosting a lunch and children’s performances for Raimon Land representatives and AWC members at the tree-planting event.
Raimon Land’s most recent CSR ventures include building dormitories in Bangkok’s Klong Toey community for the Human Development Foundation’s Mercy Centre and supporting the Sanuk Community Centre for children of construction labourers in Pattaya operated by the Melissa Cosgrove Children's Foundation.
