Tata Motors has emerged as India’s most respected company, ahead of Infosys, Reliance Industries, Wipro and Tata Steel, in the annual Nielsen Corporate Image Monitor Survey.
This is the ninth year of the study, and hence provides a moving picture. Tata Motors was ranked 5th in 2007 and 13th in 2006 in the Corporate Reputation Index.
The survey was conducted among 1,816 individuals in seven metros — Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Ahmedabad. Those surveyed are from among ‘policy makers’ (bureaucrats & politicians), ‘influencers’ (media, NGOs), ‘financial community’, ‘investors’, ‘talent pool’, ‘corporate executives’, ‘senior corporate executives’ (GMS, VPs, presidents, CEOS of 150 top companies) and ‘general public’.
The Nielsen study evaluates companies on ‘vision & leadership’, ‘products & services’, ‘financial performance’, ‘workplace environment’, ‘corporate ethics & social responsibility’, and ‘emotional appeal’.
The study was conducted between January 21, 2009, and March 6, 2009, — before the launch of the Tata Nano but after the declaration of our 3rd Quarter results.
