Bangkok--14 May--Dtac
Happy launches 15/16 SIM to please modern teenagers who can make phone calls within the network before going to bed and be charged only 15 satang per minute of talk time and pay only 16 satang per short message sent within the network around the clock. Mr. Thana Thienachariya, Chief Commercial Officer of Total Access Communication Public Company Limited (dtac), says “Although the mobile phone market is growing slower for approaching its maturity and being affected by the economic recession, we believe the segments of two large groups of customers can grow if we perfectly meet their demands. The first group covers the customers who rarely use their phones such as those who have begun to use mobile phones or mainly receive phone calls. We meet their demands by introducing Khong Kra Phan (immortal) SIM last March. Of the other group are teenagers. They may grow to be working people one day, yet new generations of teenagers always come in their place. They form a large group of customers who regularly use mobile phones. As these people have the good knowledge of phone fee packages that operators are offering, we need to understand deeply their phone use behaviors so that we can develop the new services that better serve their demands.”
Dr. Ketchayong Skowratananont, Head of dtac's Prepaid Business Division, says “This is the first time for us to really reach the segment of teenage girls. We have found from studies that half the Happy customers who are teenagers talk longer than five minutes per call and phone only a few close friends. Especially before their bedtime or from 10pm onwards, they talk so long on phone. They send 30 short messages on average each day and the figure is as many as six times more than the short message service (SMS) usage of general customers. Therefore, the 15/16 SIM is offering very economical fees for both phone calls and SMS.”
15/16 SIM charges 15 satang per minute of talk time for phone calls made within the network between 10pm and 10am. Phone calls made out of the period or to another network charge 1 baht per minute. SMS within the network charges 16 satang per message and the fee for SMS to another network is 1 baht per message around the clock.
“The special call and SMS fees should meet the lifestyles of teenagers well. In the meantime, we believe this should help their parents save costs if young customers use their phones properly,” Dr. Ketchayong says.
The customers who activate 15/16 SIM before June 30, 2009, will enjoy the fee privilege until September 30, 2010. Happy customers can subscribe to the 15/16 SIM fee package by calling *1003. The subscription fee is 30 baht. For more information, please contact the dtac Call Center at 1678.
