Bangkok--10 Jun--Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide
Finally arrives in Thailand, the distinctively bold new Volvo XC60 crossover is lifting safety standards in this fast-growing segment with the world’s first “City Safety” feature plus a full pack of Volvo’s leading safety technology and innovations.
Mr. Paul Stokes, president of Volvo Car (Thailand) Ltd., said, “As the first manufacturer in the word to offer this type of feature as standard worldwide, City Safety clearly announces that the new Volvo XC60 is the safest car Volvo has ever produced. The car is packed with over 82 years of accumulated safety innovation and technology and with a design faithful to the concept car first unveiled in Bangkok in May 2007, and is sure to be an outrages success with the urban chic in Thailand.”
The new Volvo XC60 makes its entry into the fast-growing “Small Premium Utility” medium crossover segment. It crosses over the borderline between segments by combining together a traditional city vehicle and an XC (cross-country) all-road vehicle.
Safety innovations
Maintaining its safety leadership, the new Volvo XC60 comes with many world-first safety features. Leading the safety package is “City Safety”, an innovative function that helps driver reduce or avoid low-speed accidents that are common in city traffic and traffic tailbacks.
City Safety senses the distance and speed between the car and the one in front. When driving at low speeds the car will automatically apply the brake if it senses an imminent collision.
Other new safety features include the pre-Prepared Restraints that adapt the belts and airbags to an expected crash load in mildly severe frontal collision and the Collision Warning with Autobrake that alerts driver if the distance to a vehicle ahead suddenly decreases.
The new Volvo XC60 is also packed with interesting features. The Hill Descent Control allows driver to focus solely on steering safely as the system controls the car’s speed and maintains a steady crawling speed. The active chassis control with Four-C continuously monitors the car’s behaviour and allows driver to adjust it to suit the current driving conditions. Speed-dependent steering help drivers park easier.
Bold Designs
Designed for affluent young, professional urban-chic people with an active lifestyle, the Volvo XC60 elevates the characteristics XC (Cross-Country) design language. Its new design is full of expression, personality and self confidence.
At the front, the enlarged iron mark in the trapezoidal grille gives the crossover a bolder look and self confidence. The contours of the headlamp and the taut rear wings strengthen the classic Volvo’s design DNA V-profile. The athletic body high ground clearance and large wheels amplify the capable XC muscles.
At the back, the new Volvo XC60 also has a fresh contemporary look. The characteristic LED lights set into the tail lamps emphasise the muscular XC feel. For the first time in a Volvo, the rear position lights also double up brake lights, which mean that the entire shape of the shoulder lights up when braking.
Inside, the crossover has been designed so every detail looks like it is in motion. The use of contrasting materials and colours has crated the sense of energy. The seats are designed to provide comfort and better vision to occupants. They are available in a wide range of colours. The highlight colour for the Volvo XC60 is the eye-catching Lemon Green.
The new Volvo XC60 is available in seven body colors including ice white, black sapphire, electric silver, maple red, orinoco blue, lime grass green and terra bronze.
Entertainment for pleasant ride
Designed to best suit urban chic people’s lifestyle, the Volvo XC60 boasts first-class experience inside the car with premium audio system. As standard, Volvo Car Thailand offers High Performance Sound with 4x40 watts and 8 speakers. The audio system supports MP3 and WMA-format CDs. Auxiliary input is available for connecting the owner’s own equipment, such as a portable MP3 player.
D5 biodiesel power
In Thailand, the next generation Volvo “D5” all-aluminum lightweight high-performance biodiesel (B5) engine is chosen to launch the car. The engine offers 185 hp and a massive 400 Nm of torque all across a particularly wide rev range. The diesel engine combines low fuel consumption with hi-torque sporty driving characteristics.
Wild and Style launch
To celebrate the introduction of the Volvo XC60, Volvo Car (Thailand) arranges a crossover party in the uniquely ‘wild and style’ theme. The launch event, which is held at the Centara Grand Hotel at CentralWorld, combines the urban chic design with wild, adventurous style.
Interested persons can experience the new Volvo XC60 now at Volvo’s showrooms. The crossover is available at Bt3,999,000 million.
