Valuation: It’s more than just a numbers game!
Colliers International Thailand — a leading provider of property knowledge solutions, has strengthened its services in Thailand with the appointment of a new Associate Director and head of the Consultancy & Valuation department, Nicholas Brown.
Colliers International Thailand believes that successful property decisions rely on competent and impartial consultancy combined with an accurate and reliable valuation. This is even more important in the midst of a global economic crisis, where a failure to understand the market or manage business assets effectively can have significant on-going consequences, as Thailand experienced following the crash of 1997. Valuation also plays an important role in the financial markets, not only in the pricing of funds or as a function of secured lending and due diligence investigations but also in the convergence of International Financial Reporting Standards. It therefore, directly or in-directly, underpins many of the decisions made by those who invest in, occupy or develop property.
The Consultancy & Valuation department understands the importance of providing not just a number but a comprehensive valuation report covering all matters relevant to the client. Their experience covers all commercial and residential property types, including specialist assets such as hotels, golf and country clubs and government institutions; they provide advice to all sectors of the market, including completed properties for investment or owner occupation and also development projects and vacant land.
Nicholas is a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and joins from the UK, where he worked in the property sector for the previous eight years. He joins an experienced team in Thailand that includes three key valuers, two Chartered Surveyors and a member of the International Valuation Standards Board.

Track Record
Colliers International Thailand is appointed by the Stock Exchange of Thailand as development consultant for their new capital market center at Ratchadapisek Road. Recently, Colliers have also provided consultancy and valuation advice in relation to master planning of commercial space for the new Government office at Chaengwattana and feasibility study and master planning advice for the Sport Authority of Thailand at the National Sport Complex, Huamark.
