Thai Airways International Public Company Limited held a Board of Directors’ Meeting chaired by Mr. Ampon Kittiampon, THAI’s Chairman, at THAI’s Head Office with the following announcement:
1. Appointment of New President
THAI’s Board of Directors approved Mr. Piyasvasti Amranand’s appointment as the 15th president of Thai Airways International Public Company Limited, based on the results of the president selection committee. The President Remuneration Committee, chaired by Mr. Areepong Bhoocha-oom, will determine the president’s salary and allowances as well as terms of employment that will be submitted to THAI’s Board of Directors for approval.
2. Approval of Loans
Board of Directors approved loans of 5,000 million baht from the Government Savings Bank (GSB) based on the proposal from THAI’s Funding Committee, chaired by
Mrs. Ngamnit Sombutpibool, THAI’s Executive Vice President, Finance and Accounting Department, together with Mr. Pichai Chunhavajira and Mr. Kanit Sangsubhan, THAI’s Board Members in their positions as consultants regarding the company’s loans.
In addition, the Funding Committee proceeded with additional loans as follows:
- Loans of 8,000 million baht from Bangkok Bank
- Loans of 5,000 million baht from Kasikorn Bank
- Loans of 5,000 million bath from Siam Commercial Bank
The above loans are totaling to 23,000 million baht. They are 5-year term loans with 5-5.5% interest per year.
The purpose of these loans is for restructuring short term debt and improving liquidity.
3. Appointment of THAI’s Member of the Board of Directors
THAI’s Board of Directors approved the appointment of Mr. Sathit Limpongpan, Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Finance, as member of THAI’s Board of Directors replacing Mr. Suparat Kawatkul, effective as of 18 June 2009.
