Foreign institutional investors can get a more balanced view of Thailand as an investment destination from global roadshows during June 25-30 and July 6-9, 2009. Both of these events are cooperated by major securities firms, key listed companies, and The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET).
“SET, Thanachart Securities PCL, BNP Paribas Securities (Asia) and nine firms will present information to leading institutional investors in Boston and New York during June 25-26 and in London during June 29-30 under the theme ‘Strength in Global Adversity,’” said SET President Patareeya Benjapolchai.
Deputy Finance Minister Pradit Phataraprasit will also join the event and deliver the keynote address, entitled “Thailand Path towards recovery”, in both cities. Over 50 fund managers from 40 asset management funds in each city will attend to hear about Thailand’s latest economic, political, and investment conditions, which will build confidence among this important investor group.
The companies joining this roadshow represent attractive industry groups, and have a combined market capitalization of THB1.7 trillion (approx. USD49.77 billion), or 37% of total market capitalization (as of June19, 2009). They are Advance Info Service PCL, Bangkok Bank PCL, Banpu PCL, Khon Kaen Sugar Industry PCL, PTT PCL, PTT Exploration and Production PCL, Thai Airways International PCL, Thai Tap Water Supply PCL and Thai Union Frozen Products PCL.
“This roadshow is a good opportunity for the Thai capital market and its companies to directly present information to foreign institutions, show the strength of Thai listed firms and the readiness of our country’s economy to participate in the global economic recovery,” noted Thanachart Securities PCL Managing Director Asvini Tailanga.
In addition, SET will also join hands with Deutsche Bank and Tisco Securities Co., Ltd. in inviting five listed firms to join to the ‘DBTisco Roadshows in the UK’ in London. The companies in this event include Charoen Pokphand Foods PCL, Central Pattana PCL, CP ALL PCL, IRPC PCL, and PTT Chemical PCL, which together have a market capitalization of over THB300 billion (approx. USD8.78 billion) accounting for 6.4% of total market capitalization (as of June 19, 2009). There should be 25 asset management funds and fund managers join the event.
