Thailand International Dog Show 2009 opens today at the Impact Exhibition and Convention Centre, Muang Thong Thani, Hall 3-4 and continues from June 25 to June 28 2009.
The theme of the show is, ‘Healthy Heart, Healthy Dog,’ and this year’s highlights include a talent competition and a fashion show for doggies, the ‘Dog Superstar’ photo contest and a funny dog MV. Humans are involved, too, as there is an essay contest for students with the title, “My beloved four-legged friend”.
With more than 200 local and international exhibitors and a wide range of dog care and dog healthcare products and services, the organisers are expecting at least 160,000 visitors.
“SmartHeart Presents: Thailand International Dog Show 2009” is a cooperation between partners who intend to make it the biggest event of the year covering over 10,000 square metres of space,” said Kunwadee Jintavorn, Executive Director of Impact Exhibition Management Co Ltd.
The show is designed to support and promote the country’s pet market, especially the dog segment. It will provide a comprehensive trade centre for dog products and services and an arena where producers and manufacturers can meet customers and dog owners.
It will also provide useful information on the care and treatment of dogs, give advice on relationship between dogs and their owners, and will contain a segment devoted to organisations that rescue and care for stray dogs. There will be a mobile clinic for dogs on the premises as well.
Mrs Pusara Suntrangkoon of the Kennel Club of Thailand said that the show would not only be a place for traders to talk business, but also somewhere for dog lovers and their pets, and a showcase for the dogs to show off their talents.
This year, as every year, dog breeders from all over the country will come to join the competition to find the year’s best breed.
“We are aiming to standardise methods of dog breeding in Thailand so that it meets world class standards, first to improve the lives of dogs in Thailand and at the same time improve the business of dog breeding,” said Putsara.
Nantapol Tantiwongampai Chairman of Thai Pet Product Industries Association explained that the association supported businesses and activities that helped the industry to meet the growing demand for dog products and services that has followed the increasing number of dogs being kept as pets. The association’s task was to build the competitiveness of Thailand’s pet product industries so that Thai companies could be successful in the international market.
“We also provide information on keeping pets at home as a healthy habit, and give advice on the right way to care for them. We want to encourage people show their love and take extra care of their pets, not abandon them so that they become a sad, social problem.”
Mr Richard Hampe Customer relations manager of Perfect Companion Group Co Ltd, said that his company had been the major sponsor of the show for five consecutive years. The event is open not only to traders and dog lovers, but also to those organisations that take care of stray dogs.
“They’ll present exhibitions that show the public the conditions that stray dogs live in,
and how they help them to have a happier, healthier life. I know that people will
share their compassion and want to help by giving a donation to their work,” said Richard.
SmartHeart Presents: Thailand International Dog Show 2009 is organised by Impact Exhibition Management Co Ltd, the Kennel Club of Thailand, Thai Pet Product Industries Association and the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT). The major sponsor is the Perfect Companion Group, manufacturers of SmartHeart dog food.
