The Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company has appointed Kongkiat Teekamongkol to managing director, Goodyear (Thailand) plc.effective immediately. Kongkiat will continue to report to Richard Fleming, Managing Director -Goodyear ASEAN.
Kongkiat is Thailand’s first local managing director since it began operations more than 41 years ago. At 42, he is also considered to be one of the youngest managing directors in any industry. Six of Kongkiat’s top direct reports managing Sales, HR, Marketing, Supply Chain & Customer Service, and Procurement departments are also of Thai descent.
“Kongkiat’s appointment underlines Goodyear’s unwavering commitment to Thailand and to having Thai nationals in key leadership positions,” said Fleming. “His proven leadership and strong business acumen will ensure the growth of our business and allow us to move from strength to strength.”

“Kongkiat’s leadership also led to the introduction of a new branded retail format called Goodyear Autocare, as well as numerous sponsorships in the motor sports arena to promote the Goodyear Racing brand and its specialty line of racing tires”, said Fleming.
Kongkiat has moved quickly through the company propelled by his energy, strong results and leadership. He joined Goodyear Thailand in February 2003 as Sales and Marketing Manager, Aviation Tires, Asia before being appointed to Regional Manager Aviation Tires, Asia in January 2006. Two years later he was named Sales Director, Goodyear Thailand and quickly expanded his role to Sales and Marketing Director, Goodyear Thailand in May 2008.
In September 2008, Kongkiat was appointed to Business Operations General Manager, Goodyear Thailand, where he was responsible for Sales, Marketing and Supply Chain functions reporting to Richard Fleming, who then served in the dual role of managing director for Goodyear ASEAN and Thailand.
Kongkiat has a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Florida, Gainesville, USA, and a Master of Business Administration from Bangkok University, Thailand (graduating with 1st Honor). He worked at Bombardier Rail Transport, Daimler Chrysler Rail System, and ABB before joining Goodyear.
