DHL boosts exports to US with enhanced capability in US

ข่าวทั่วไป Tuesday June 30, 2009 13:52 —PRESS RELEASE LOCAL

Bangkok--30 Jun--Hill & Knowlton DHL, the world’s leading express company, recently announced an “Amazing But True” campaign to leverage export growth in Thailand to the US and reaffirm its leading position in international express services to the US. Although Thailand’s export economy is still affected by the global slowdown, DHL has seen positive signals for exports to the US market. Shipment of electronic parts, in particular, has recorded a noticeable increase since April this year. The upward trend of outbound shipment for electronic parts in May 2009 is parallel to that of May 2008. The company also sees a slight growth in textile and garment shipments to the USA between the first two quarters. Therefore, the “Amazing But True” campaign aims to boost exports to the USA and create excitement among Thai exporters. Chananyarak Phetcharat, Managing Director, DHL Express Thailand and Indochina said, “DHL as a trade facilitator is responding proactively to help boost export market in Thailand by helping exporters maintain and improve their competitive edge with our best-in-class express and logistics solutions.” Under “Amazing But True” campaign, DHL Express is now offering ‘amazing’ competitive rates to customers, mainly exporters on international express door-to-door services ranging from light documents to shipments weighing up to ten thousand kilograms till the end of 2009. “Our shipment trend has shown positive opportunities for Thai exporters in the US markets for industries such as electronics and textile and garment. With the ‘Amazing But True ’ campaign, we expect the number of shipments to USA per day to grow by 25 per cent by the end of 2009,” added Chananyarak. The “Amazing But True” campaign is developed following the positive response generated from the recent “Amazing But True — Rewards” program, a customer retention and acquisition initiative implemented from April to June. The program received over 6,000 registered participants from existing and new customers during the period. Wanpen Visuthsak, System Solution Manager & Company Representative, LSI, a semiconductor manufacturer and DHL customer for more than two years, said, “We really enjoyed the cost savings and reward from “Amazing But True” campaign, but most importantly we are very satisfied with DHL’s reliable yet flexible services that delivered our shipments during the airport crisis last year.” The “Amazing But True” campaign reaffirms DHL Express’ increased effectiveness in the US following a re-focus on its core competency as an international express service. This has increased the company's operational capacity and strengthened its international network, thereby further facilitating trade between the US and the rest of the world. A DHL Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky (CVG) facility — a state-of-the-art, fully automated sorting centre, handling up to 255,000 shipments per night, will enable DHL Express to further enhance operational efficiency. In addition, the US$210 million DHL Express Central Asia Hub in Hong Kong with a capacity to handle 75,000 shipments per hour has reinforced the DHL air network within Asia and across the continents.
